The Doi Luang National Park ( Thai : อุทยานแห่งชาติ ดอย หลวง ) is a National Park in the Northern Region of Thailand . It was opened on April 16, 1990 as the 61st National Park in Thailand .
geography
The national park covers an area of 731,250 Rai or 1170 km², it is located in the Phi Pan Nam Mountains , in the districts ( Amphoe ) Mae Suai , Phan and Wiang Pa Pao of Chiang Rai Province , the districts of Wang Nuea , Ngao of Lampang Province and the districts of Mae Chai and Mueang Phayao the province of Phayao .
The terrain is mountainous, the highest point is Doi Luang in the north at 1694 meters. Both sandstone and laterite can be found here .

Flora and fauna
Doi Luang National Park is home to tropical rainforests , deciduous and dipterocarp forests . It is the habitat of many different plant and animal species.

- Eisenbaum ( Mesua ferrea ), Thai: บุนนาค
- Hopea odorata
- Australian red cedar ( Toona ciliata )
- Lagerstroemia tomentosa
- Irvingia malayana from the Irvingiaceae family
Animal species
- Ordinary muntjac
- the Indochinese leopard ( Panthera pardus delacouri )
- the endangered collar bear , also called Asiatic black bear ( Ursus thibetanus )
- the endangered sun bear ( Helarctos malayanus )
- the endangered Chinese serau ( Capricornis milneedwardsii )
The park is also home to a large number of snakes and over 200 species of birds such as the blue-winged saliva ( Siva cyanouroptera rufodorsalis ) or the red-billed tail kitta ( Urocissa erythrorhyncha ).
