The Phu Kao National Park - Phu Phan Kham ( Thai : อุทยานแห่งชาติ ภู เก้า - ภู พาน คำ ) is a national park in the northeast region of Thailand , the Isan .

geography

The national park is located in the northeast of the Khorat plateau . It is located in the south of Nongbua Lamphu Province and in the north of Khon Kaen Province . A large part of the national park is taken up by the reservoir of the Ubol-Ratana Dam . The park includes parts of the Phu Kao Mountain Range and the Phu Phan Mountain Range.

history

The 322 km² park was opened on September 20, 1985 as the 50th national park in Thailand.

climate

As in almost all other parts of the country, there are three seasons here: the rainy, winter and summer seasons.

  • Summer: March to May, with April being the hottest month on average
  • Rain: June to October, the month with the heaviest rainfall is August.
  • Winter: November to February, the lowest temperatures occur in January. The low temperatures in January are due to high pressure influences that have their origin in southern China.

Attractions

In addition to some waterfalls, several caves can be visited, in which archaeologists have found evidence that they were already inhabited by humans 3500 years ago. Wall paintings and incisions in the rock walls are said to date from the Ban Chiang period .

From the Hosawan viewpoint ( หอ สวรรค์ ) you have a wide view of the park, which is “flat as a frying pan” in the middle and is bordered by the Phu Phan ridge .
