The National Park Thung Salaeng Luang ( Thai อุทยานแห่งชาติ ทุ่ง แสลง หลวง ) is a national park in the provinces ( Changwat ) Phitsanulok and Phetchabun in the northern region of Thailand .

history

As early as 1959, Thung Salaeng was proposed as an area for a national park in Thailand, which finally happened in 1972. In the 1960s to 1980s the area was dominated by communist insurgents who had established a larger base for their activities in the northeast here.

location

The center of the Thung Salaeng Luang National Park is located about 80 kilometers east of Phitsanulok . It is about 1,262 square kilometers that corresponds to 789,000 Rai .

topography

The landscape of the national park is mostly flat in the south, otherwise it has hilly terrain made of sandstone , and thus offers good conditions for hiking. The height above sea level varies between 300 m and 1028 m. The Wang Thong River flies through the park . Larger brines can be found in the northwest at Pong Sai and in the southwest at Pong Thung Phaya.

The annual average temperature is around 25 ° C, the maximum temperatures often reach 30 ° C and more. The average annual rainfall is 1.7 meters.

Plant species
