The Namtok Pha Charoen National Park ( th .: อุทยานแห่งชาติ น้ำตก พา เจริญ) is a national park in the Phop Phra District in the Tak Province in the northern region of Thailand .

location

The 855 square kilometer (= 534,375 Rai ) protected area is located west of Tak on the border to Myanmar . Most of its area includes mountains with deciduous and mixed forests up to a height of 1765  m .

administration

Namtok Pha Charoen National Park is administered by the Thai Forest Service, the Royal Forest Department .

climate

The relatively cool climate in the national park is characterized by the monsoons  - a large-scale air circulation in the lower troposphere in the tropics and subtropics in the area of ​​influence of the trade winds  . The year can be divided into three periods due to the monsoons:

  • Summer (March to May); not extremely hot because of the altitude
  • Rainy season (June to October)
  • Winter (November to February) with temperatures up to 6 ° C

The average amount of precipitation in the park is between 1500 and 2000 mm per year.

Flora and fauna

The protected area is characterized by deciduous and coniferous forests.

Gaurs ( Bos gaurus ), deer, muntjaks ( Muntiacus muntjak ), wild boars, Indochinese tigers ( Panthera tigris corbetti ), snakes , porcupines , civets and gibbons live in the national park .

Attractions

  • Nam Tok Pha Charoen : a 97-tier waterfall ; he gave the national park its name
  • Bo Nam Ron Huai Nam Nak : a naturally warm spring with a constant temperature of 12 degrees Celsius
  • Doi Kia viewpoint: at 512 meters, the highest point on the border between Myanmar and Thailand
  • Nam Tok Pa Wai : a waterfall that is fed by the Pa Wai Creek
  • Nam Tok Sai Fa and Nam Tok Sai Rung : two more waterfalls
