The National Park Nam Tok Chat Trakan ( Thai อุทยานแห่งชาติ น้ำตก ชาติตระการ ) is a National Park in the province of Phitsanulok in northern Thailand .

location

The national park is located in the far northeast of the Phitsanulok province, in the Chat Trakan district ( amphoe ) . The distance to the capital of the province is 145 kilometers. The park covers an area of approximately 235 square kilometers (146,875 Rai ). The best way to get to the park is from Phitsanulok on Highway 12 to Ban Yang, then on the 2013 side road towards Chat Trakan, then on 1143.

The terrain is predominantly mountainous - with sandstone predominating - and covered with evergreen forest. Here are the sources of the Mae Nam Nan as well as the Khwae Noi and its tributary Phak .

Attractions

The seven-stage waterfall, which gave the National Park the name of the chat Trakan Waterfall ( Thai น้ำตก ชาติตระการ ), also Pakrong Waterfall (Thai: น้ำตก ปาก รอง ) called, is considered by many as the most beautiful among numerous waterfalls in the province. The highest drop is 10 meters. A more than a kilometer long footpath leads along the waterfall, it is framed by cliffs. The water flows into the river Phak.

climate

From December to February it can get very cold at night. In the hot season the thermometer rarely rises above 30 ° C, the maximum daily temperatures are usually between 25 ° C and 29 ° C, so it is significantly less hot than in the flatlands.
