The Mae Nam Nan ( Thai : แม่น้ำ น่าน , "Nan River") or just Nan is next to the Mae Nam Ping ( Thai : แม่น้ำ ปิ ง, "Ping River") one of the two main source rivers of the Mae Nam Chao Phraya ( Chao- Phraya River ), the central stream of Thailand and flows a little more than 600 kilometers south.

The origin of the Nan is located in the same province of Nan in northern Thailand . The Nan then flows south through the provinces of Uttaradit , Phitsanulok and Phichit , before continuing to flow together with the Mae Nam Yom ( Yom River ) at Chum Saeng ( Nakhon Sawan Province ). The Nan unites at Pak Nam Pho in the city of Nakhon Sawan with the Mae Nam Ping to form the Chao Phraya, the largest river in central Thailand, which flows into the Gulf of Thailand south of Bangkok .

Traditional boat races are held every year on Mae Nam Nan in Phitsanulok .
