Amphoe Chaloem Phra Kiat ( Thai : อำเภอ เฉลิมพระเกียรติ ) is a district ( Amphoe - administrative district) in the north of Nan Province . Nan Province is located in the northern region of Thailand .

geography

Neighboring counties (clockwise from south): Bo Kluea , Pua, and Thung Chang districts of Nan Province. To the north and east lies the Sainyabuli province of Laos .

history

On December 5, 1996, the tambon Huai Kon was separated from Thung Chang and the tambon Khun Nan was separated from Bo Kluea to form the new district of Chaloem Phra Kiat. It is one of five counties in Thailand of the same name. All were founded on the same day to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the throne of King Bhumibol Adulyadej (Rama IX) .
