Amphoe Na Noi ( Thai : อำเภอ นาน้อย ) is a district ( Amphoe - administrative district) in the south of Nan Province . Nan Province is located in the northeast of the northern region of Thailand .

geography

Neighboring clockwise from the north are: Amphoe Wiang Sa , the border with Laos , Amphoe Ban Khok ( Uttaradit province ) and the Na Muen and Rong Kwang ( Phrae province ).

The Mae Nam Nan (Nan River) flows in the eastern part of Amphoe Na Noi . The Nam Haeng is another larger river. It flows through the place Na Noi and flows a little further east into the Nan. The Nam Haeng reservoir is built upstream .

To the west of the amphoe lies the Si Nan National Park with its forested mountain slopes that separate the Mae Nam Yom and Nan valleys . Not far north of the town of Na Noi, erosion has created a strange hilly landscape , the Hom Chom . Some hills are very steep, formed by rainwater and fractures within the sandstone masses.

history

Na Noi was originally called Wiang Si Sa Ket ( เวียง ศรีษะเกษ ). In 1899 it became part of Nan Province. In 1903 it was planned to combine Si Sa Ket and Tha Pla into one amphoe, but Tha Pla finally came to Uttaradit .

In 1907 the name of the amphoe was changed to avoid confusion with the province of Si Sa Ket . At the same time, Na Noi became part of Nan Province.
