Amphoe Song Khwae ( Thai อำเภอ สอง แคว ) is a district ( Amphoe - Administrative District) in the northwest of Nan Province . Nan Province is located in the northeast of the northern region of Thailand .

geography

Neighboring counties (clockwise from east): Thung Chang , Chiang Klang and Tha Wang Pha districts in Nan Province, Pong and Chiang Kham districts in Phayao Province . In the north, the district borders on the Sayaburi Province of Laos .

history

Song Khwae was first established on April 1, 1992 as a "branch circle" ( King Amphoe ) by separating three tambon from the Chiang Klang district . On October 11, 1997, Song Khwae was promoted to Amphoe.

Attractions

  • National parks :
    • Tham Sakoen National Park (Thai: อุทยานแห่งชาติ ถ้ำ สะ เกิน ) - mountainous terrain with an average height between 300 and 1752 meters, the highest elevation is the Doi Chi ( ยอด ดอย จี๋ ) at 1752 meters. There are some waterfalls worth seeing in the park, such as the three-tier Huai Hat waterfall ( น้ำตก ห้วย หาด ) or the six-tier Hongwiangchan waterfall (( หง ษ์ เวียง จันทร์ ).

Local administration

There is one municipality with "small town" status ( Thesaban Tambon ) in the district:

  • Yot (Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล ยอด ) consisting of the complete tambon yot.

There are also two " tambon administration organizations " ( องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล - Tambon Administrative Organizations, TAO)

  • Na Rai Luang (Thai: องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล นา ไร่ หลวง ) consisting of the complete tambon Na Rai Luang.
  • Chon Daen (Thai: องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล ชนแดน ) consisting of the complete Tambon Chon Daen.
