The Phu Chong Na Yoi National Park ( Thai : อุทยานแห่งชาติ ภู จอง นาย อย ) is a national park in Thailand . It is located in the northeast region of the country, on the border with Laos and Cambodia and was named the 53rd National Park of Thailand on June 1, 1987.

The national park covers an area of ​​428,750 Rai (686 km²), it is located in the districts ( Amphoe ) Buntharik , Na Chaluai , Nam Yuen of the Ubon Ratchathani province . The park is partly crossed by the Phanom-Dongrek mountain range . The terrain consists of sandstone and laterite .

climate

As in almost all other parts of the country, there are three seasons here: the rainy, winter and summer seasons.

Flora and fauna

The area of ​​the Phu Chong Na Yoi National Park is about 75% covered by forests, for the most part by evergreen forests, but mixed and dry dipterocarp forests also occur.

Animal species

The national park is repeatedly affected by illegal logging of the valuable "rosewood" (Thai พะยูง , phayung ). State officials and police officers are suspected of cooperating with gangs of lumberjacks (mainly from neighboring Cambodia).
