The Nam Phong National Park ( Thai : อุทยานแห่งชาติ น้ำพอง ) is a national park in Thailand . It is located in the northeast region of the country.
Nam Phong National Park was declared a National Park of Thailand on November 15, 2000. The park got its name from the Phong River in the north .
geography
The national park covers an area of 123,125 Rai (197 km²), it is located in the districts ( Amphoe ) Ubolratana , Ban Fang , Nong Ruea , Mancha Khiri and Khok Pho Chai of the province of Khon Kaen and the districts of Ban Thaen and Kaeng Khro of the province of Chaiyaphum
The park consists of the Phu Phan Kham mountain range in the north and the Phu Meng in the south with an average altitude of 600 meters. The mountain ranges essentially consist of sandstone. In the west, the park borders the Ubol Ratana Reservoir , with the dam of the same name in the north of the reservoir.
climate
As in almost all other parts of the country, there are three seasons here: the rainy, winter and summer seasons. The rainy season runs from June to October, winter from November to February and the summer months are March, April and May.
Flora and fauna
The area of the Nam Phong National Park is covered with various forests and grasslands.

The Nam Phong consists of 80% dry dipterocarp forests, the remaining 20% consists of various mixed forests and bamboo forests or grassland. There you can find various trees, shrubs and flowers such as:
- Dipterocarpus obtusifolius from the genus of the two-winged fruit trees ,
- Shorea obtusa ,
- Shorea siamensis ,
- Irvingia malayana ,
- Parinari aramense from the golden plum family,
- Hopea ferrea ,
- Cycas sp.
Animal species
The animal world of the national park consists mainly of small to medium-sized animal species such as wild pigs, porcupines and muntjacs as well as a large number of birds.

- Famue Daeng Rock ( ผา ฝ่ามือ แดง ) - view of the reservoir; impressive rock paintings on the rock: for example fish and fishing
- Hin-Chang-Si Viewpoint ( จุด ชม ทิวทัศน์ หิน ช้าง สี )
- Kham-Phon- "volcanic crater" ( คำ โพน บ่อ หิน กลม ) - circular sinkhole , similar to a volcanic crater
