The Khao Laem National Park ( Thai : อุทยานแห่งชาติ เขา แหลม ) is a National Park in Kanchanaburi province west of the central region of Thailand . It belongs to the Western Forest Complex .
history
The Khao Laem National Park was designated in 1987 along with five other national parks on the occasion of the 60th birthday of King Bhumipol Adulyadej .
location
The national park is located in the forest mountains around the Khao Laem reservoir in the districts ( Amphoe ) Thong Pha Phum and Sangkhla Buri about 340 kilometers northwest of Bangkok. The area is cut through by highway 323. One of the special attractions in the area is the longest wooden bridge in Thailand north of the national park in Wang Ka . To the northeast, the park borders the strictly protected Thung Yai Naresuan game reserve .
Flora and fauna
The vegetation of the hilly national park consists of deciduous mixed forest, evergreen forest on hills and dry evergreen forest. The park is a refuge for rare large animals such as a tiger , the Asian elephant , the gaur , the sambar deer , the muntjac .
