The Phu Pha Yon National Park (also: Phu Phar Yol ; Thai : อุทยานแห่งชาติ ภูผา ยล , RTGS : uthayan haengchat phu pha yon) is a national park in the provinces of Sakon Nakhon , Nakhon Phanom and Mukdahan in northeast Thailand, the so-called Isan .
location
Phu Pha Yon National Park is located in Amphoe Tao Ngoi and Khok Si Suphan ( Sakon Nakhon Province ), Amphoe Na Kae in Nakhon Phanom Province and in Amphoe Dong Luang and Khamcha-i in Mukdahan Province .

The area of the Phu Pha Yon National Park is about 828.56 km² and consists of alternating sandstone plateaus. Here are sources for flowing water and a habitat for many animal and plant species.
Flora and fauna
The flora is characterized by mixed forest (mainly deciduous forest ) and dry deciduous forest, but the mountain rainforest does occur.
One can encounter the Asiatic jackal , deer species and numerous bird species here.
Attractions
Numerous waterfalls, caves, cliffs, rocky depths and water basins are interesting for tourists.
- Phu Pha Yon (Tham Pha Lai) - here is a large cliff in the Phu Pha Yon mountain ranges with a height of about 200 meters; on its outer surface there are approximately 3000 year old representations of various symbols.
- Dong Noi - a water reservoir in Na Kae Amphoe, Nakhon Phanom Province
- Huai Huad Basin - in Tao Ngoi District, Sakon Nakhon Province; to the right of the pool are fascinating rock formations.
- Khum Namsang waterfall - the highest waterfall in the national park, approx. 400 meters from the park administration.
- Kaeng Po Waterfall - from the park administration on Prem Pattana Road to the left at Sanwae Village (approximately 32 km total); a very beautiful waterfall with a 14 meter wide and 10 meter high fall; a nearby campsite has space for around 1000 people.
climate
The climate is tropical-monsoonal and has three seasons: the rainy season from May to October, with heavy rain in August. The average rainfall per year is 1484 mm. The cold season lasts from November to January; the lowest temperatures are from about 16 ° C . Summer lasts from February to April and has temperatures around 32 ° C.
history
Phu Pha Yon was one of five national parks that were declared a national park on the occasion of the 60th birthday of King Bhumibol Adulyadej on December 5, 1987.
