Mukdahan ( Thai : มุกดาหาร ) is a province ( Changwat ) in Isan , the northeast region of Thailand . The capital of the province of Mukdahan is also called Mukdahan .

geography

The province of Mukdahan is about 700 kilometers northeast of the capital Bangkok on the border with Laos .

The province lies on the Mekong , which also forms the border with Laos. In the west of the province are the densely forested Phu Phan Mountains .

history

The city of Mukdahan was founded in 1770 by Chan Kinnaree, Prince of Phonsim, and the present provincial area was part of Udon Thani Province until 1907 . It was then incorporated into the Nakhon Phanom Province until Mukdahan became an independent province in 1982.

A provincial administrative organization ( บริหาร ส่วน จังหวัด , อบ จ for short , Ongkan Borihan suan Changwat ; English Provincial Administrative Organization , PAO) exists for the entire area of ​​the province .

There is a Thesaban Mueang ( เทศบาล เมือง - "city") in the province : Mukdahan ( เทศบาล เมือง มุกดาหาร ).

There are also seven thesaban tambon ( เทศบาล ตำบล - "small towns").
