Kalasin ( Thai : กาฬสินธุ์ ) is a province ( Changwat ) in the northeast region of Thailand , the Isan . The capital of the province of Kalasin is also called Kalasin .
geography
The landscape is characterized by hilly forests and rice fields. In the north is the Lam Pao Dam, which was built in the 1960s and is used for artificial irrigation in agriculture. On the border with the province of Sakon Nakhon was in the Phu Phan Mountains of Phu Phan National Park reported.

The province of Kalasin has a total of 805 wetlands with an area of 141.5 km², which are used more or less intensively for agriculture .
history
Excavations prove the settlement activity of the Lawa , who stayed here over 1,600 years ago. The oldest city in this area was only founded in 1793. The province itself first emerged at the beginning of the 20th century during the Thesaphiban movement, but was merged with the Maha Sarakham Province in 1932. In 1947 the province was re-established within its previous borders.

- Mueang Fa Daet (full name Mueang Fa Daet Song Yang , เมือง ฟ้า แดด สง ยาง ) - archaeological site of a 1000 year old city from the Dvaravati period in the Amphoe Kamalasai, 19 kilometers southeast of the provincial capital.

The coat of arms of the province of Kalasin shows a pond in front of a mountain landscape that forms a natural border of the province. The water in the pond is black, which is supposed to remind of the name of the province: Kalasin means “black water”. The large clouds and the water symbolize the fertility of the area.
The local flower is Payom or Sweet Shorea ( Shorea roxburghii ), the local tree is Sa Mae San ( Cassia garrettiana ).

The province is divided into 18 districts ( Amphoe ) . The counties are further subdivided into 134 parishes ( Tambon ) and 1509 villages ( Muban ) .

A provincial administrative organization ( บริหาร ส่วน จังหวัด , อบ จ for short , Ongkan Borihan suan Changwat ; English Provincial Administrative Organization , PAO) exists for the entire area of the province .
There are two cities ( เทศบาล เมือง - Thesaban Mueang ) in the province : Kalasin ( เทศบาล เมือง กาฬสินธุ์ ) and Bua Khao ( เทศบาล เมือง บัวขาว ). There are also 33 small towns ( เทศบาล ตำบล - Thesaban Tambon ).
