Amphoe Tha Khantho ( Thai : อำเภอ ท่าคันโท ) is a district ( Amphoe - administrative district) in the northwest of the Kalasin Province . The province of Kalasin is located in the northeast region of Thailand , the so-called Isan .
geography
The neighboring districts start clockwise from the south: Amphoe Nong Kung Si in the province of Kalasin, Amphoe Kranuan in the province of Khon Kaen , and the Amphoe Kumphawapi , Si That and Wang Sam Mo in the province of Udon Thani .
history
Tha Khantho was initially set up on October 1, 1962 as a “branch circle” ( King Amphoe ) by separating the two tambon Tha Khantho and Khok Khruea from the Amphoe Sahatsakhan . On October 2, 1965, Tha Khantho was promoted to Amphoe. Khok Khruea was later assigned to Amphoe Nong Kung Si .

There are five municipalities with "small town" status ( Thesaban Tambon ) in the district:
- Kung Kao (Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล กุ ง เก่า ) consists of the entire Tambon Kung Kao.
- Kut Chik (Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล กุด จิก ) consists of the entire Tambon Kut Chik.
- Na Tan (Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล นา ตาล ) consists of parts of the Tambon Na Tan.
- Dong Sombun (Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล ดง สมบูรณ์ ) consists of the entire tambon Dong Sombun.
- Tha Khantho (Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล ท่าคันโท ) consists of the entire tambon Tha Khantho and the remaining parts of Na Tan.
