Heating monitoring

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Under heating monitoring means the record of the temperature profiles of the heat distribution of a heating system, analysis of these predicted values and improved development control parameters for an optimized plant operation. This enables energy-optimized parameterization of the heating controller. Heating monitoring is widespread in large heating systems (with building management systems ). In the 50  kW to 1 MW rated power segment, the topic is currently hardly given any importance. Heating monitoring and demand-optimized controller parameterization are options for improving the energy efficiency of heating systems.

The temperature monitoring of heating systems has been offered by qualified engineering offices for many decades, but has only achieved noticeable market awareness in the course of digitalization (Internet-based monitoring).

With heating monitoring, an inventory is usually carried out on site to assess the current situation. The analysis of the measured consumption values can open up energy saving potential. Concrete measures are usually recommended that typically enable an efficiency improvement of around ten percent.

The E-MonAut project was set up at the Fraunhofer Institute for Optronics, System Technology and Image Evaluation for heating monitoring in old buildings, an area in which a lot of heating energy is required and there is often a high need for optimization . The aim is optimized monitoring and the provision of heating water automatically adapted to the forecast needs of the residents.

In the course of the implementation of energy management systems, sustainable possibilities for realizing optimization potential are increasingly in demand. With heating monitoring, this is possible with the majority of heating systems. Heating monitoring is currently still a relatively unknown energy service (EDL), but it is already in the range of some larger energy suppliers or is offered by specialized service providers.

There are further training courses for heating monitoring in the form of workshops on energy management DIN ISO 50001 and energy audit DIN EN 16247.
