Amphoe Mueang Phayao ( Thai : อำเภอ เมือง พะเยา , pronunciation: mɯ̄aŋ pʰā.jāw ) is a district ( amphoe - administrative district) in the province of Phayao . The Phayao Province is located in the northern region of Thailand .

Adjacent areas (from north clockwise): Amphoe May Chai Province Phayao Amphoe Pa Daet of Chiang Rai province , the Amphoe Phu Kamyao and Doc Khamtai turn in Phayao, and Amphoe Ngao and Wang Nuea in the province of Lampang .

history

In 1917, Phayao County was renamed Mueang Phayao. In 1938 the word mueang was removed again. When the Phayao Province was established in 1977, it was renamed Mueang Phayao again.
