Amphoe Ban Dan Lan Hoi ( Thai อำเภอ บ้านด่านลานหอย ) is a county ( amphoe - administrative district) in Sukhothai Province . Sukhothai Province is located in the northern region of Thailand .

Ban Dan Lan Hoi district is located in the southwest of Sukhothai Province. It is the only amphoe in the province that borders three other provinces.
Amphoe Ban Dan Lan Hoi is surrounded clockwise from the north by the following amphoe: Thung Saliam , Si Samrong , Mueang Sukhothai and Khiri Mat in Sukhothai Province, Phran Kratai in Kamphaeng Phet Province , Mueang Tak and Ban Tak in Tak Province and Thoen in Lampang Province .
history
At the time of the Sukhothai Kingdom , the western camp of the guards was located in the area of today's Amphoe. The nearby village was called Ban Lan Khoi ( บ้าน ลาน คอย ) at the time. Over time, the pronunciation changed to today's "Ban Lan Hoi".
During the Rattanakosin period, the Ministry of the Interior ( Mahatthai ) established a new tambon (sub-district) called Ban Dan. In 1909 Ban Dan was promoted to King Amphoe (small district) within the Sukhothai Municipality , before the district administration moved to Tambon Lan Hoi in 1916. Later, after the road to Tak , the Charot-Withi-Thong Road ( ถนน จรด วิถี ถ่อง , today: Thailand Route 12 ) was completed, the district administration was set up again in Tambon Ban Dan.
Ban Dan Lan Hoi was given its current name in 1939. In 1973, King Amphoe Ban Dan Lan Hoi was finally upgraded to an amphoe.

Local administration
There are two small towns ( Thesaban Tambon ) in the county:
- Lan Hoi (Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล ลาน หอย ) consists of parts of the Tambon Lan Hoi,
- Taling Chan (Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล ตลิ่งชัน ) consists of the entire Tambon Taling Chan.
There are also six “Tambon Administrative Organizations” (TAO, องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล - Administrative Organizations) for the tambon in the district that do not belong to any city.
