Amphoe Mueang Tak ( Thai : อำเภอ เมือง ตาก ) is a district ( amphoe - administrative district) in the province of Tak . The Tak Province is located in the northern region of Thailand . The capital of both the county and the province is called Tak .
geography
Tak is located about 420 km northwest of Bangkok on the Mae Nam Ping ( Ping River ).
Neighboring districts are (clockwise from the south): the Amphoe Wang Chao , Phop Phra , Mae Sot , Mae Ramat and Ban Tak of Tak Province. To the east is the Ban Dan Lan Hoi district of Sukhothai Province , as well as the Phran Kratai and Kosamphi Nakhon district of Kamphaeng Phet Province .
The main river in the district is the Mae Nam Ping ( Ping River ), one of the major tributaries of the Mae Nam Chao Phraya . The Mae Nam Ping flows through the northern part of the province from north to south.
economy
The Yan-hi dam ( เขื่อน ยัน ฮี , built 1953–1964), popularly known as the Bhumibol dam after the initiator , enables regulated irrigation of the fertile land without the usual floods. This generates so much electricity that the capital Bangkok can also be partially supplied.
history
Mueang Tak County was established in 1886. The provincial administration was also located in the first administration building. In 1956 a new building was built on the Phahonyothin Highway, which fell victim to a fire in 1965, so the house of Luang San Buranurak was rented as a temporary administrative building. The current building was opened in 1967.
