The Rajamangala University of Technology Lanna (RMUTL; Thai มหาวิทยาลัย เทคโนโลยี ราช มงคล ล้าน นา , RTGS Mahawitthayalai Theknoloyi Ratchamongkhon Lanna , "Royal Auspicious Technical University Lanna") is a public university of science and technology in northern Thailand . It belongs to the Rajamangala system of state technical universities. Its main campus is in Doi Saket Amphoe , about 16 km northeast of Chiang Mai , Thailand . In addition to bachelor and master programs, the university also offers second-level studies. It is named after the kingdom of Lan Na , to which northwest Thailand belonged until the end of the 19th century.
history
The university was founded by the Vocational Institute, which was established in 1957 by King Bhumibol Adulyadej (Rama IX). In 1975 it formed a campus of the Institute of Technology and Vocational Education and Training, before being renamed the Rajamangala Institute of Technology (RIT), North Campus, in 1988. Gradually, the administration and education were improved to such an extent that in 2003 the institute was elevated to the Rajamangala University of Technology Lanna (RMUTL), which has campuses in six cities in Northern Thailand : Chiang Mai , Chiang Rai , Lampang , Tak , Phitsanulok and Nan .
