Amphoe Den Chai ( Thai อำเภอ เด่นชัย , pronunciation: ʔāmpʰɤ̄ː dèn tɕʰāj ) is a district ( Amphoe - administrative district) in the southeast of the Phrae Province in northern Thailand .

Neighboring circles (clockwise from west): Wang Chin , Long and Sung Men district in Phrae Province, Mueang Uttaradit and Laplae district in Uttaradit Province, and Si Satchanalai district in Sukhothai Province .

history

Den Chai was first established as a subdistrict ( King Amphoe ) of Sung Men County on January 24, 1963 . In 1965 Den Chai got full amphoe status.

Den Chai became more important after the government built the Northern Railway Line through the county and the Den Chai – Chiang Rai Railway Project . In addition, the national road No. 11 leads past Den Chai.

Local administration

There are three small towns ( Thesaban Tambon ) in the district:

  • Den Chai (Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล เด่นชัย ) consists of parts of the Tambon Den Chai, Mae Chua and Pong Pa Wai,
  • Mae Chua (Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล แม่ จั๊วะ ) consists of parts of the Tambon Mae Chua,
  • Pong Pa Wai (Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล ป ง ป่า หวาย ) consists of further parts of the Tambon Pong Pa Wai.

There are also three “Tambon Administrative Organizations” (TAO, องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล - administrative organizations) for the tambon in the district that do not belong to any city.
