The young princess Rosemarie von Brauneck lost her mother at an early age and grew up as a half-orphan under the care of her strict father, the Prince of Brauneck. As a child, she began to adore the neighboring property, a noble painter named Baron Harro von Thorstein. Over the years, crush became love. For several reasons, however, there is a great shadow over this young happiness: Not only is Rosemarie seriously ill, but her stepmother Charlotte was Harro's lover some time ago, and she is not ready to cede the young artist to her stepdaughter without a fight.

When Harro asks the prince for Rosemary's hand, Charlotte intervenes, trying to prevent this marriage and instead want to resume her extramarital relationship with Harro von Thorstein. But she is unlucky with her intrigue and receives a rebuff from Harro. Instead, he and Rosemary get married. The marriage is happy and soon this relationship is crowned by a child together. Charlotte still cannot accept this relationship, and when she sees how happy Rosemarie is with Harro, one day she invites her to take a car ride together. She races into Lake Garda with suicidal intent . But Rosemarie survives and finally heals at the side of her loving husband.

Reviews

“A very free remake of the antiquated successful novel by Agnes Günther in the lying gazebo style. The extremely wooden staging mixes sentimentality with contemporary ingredients from the 50s. "

The Cinema Online editorial team found this remake to be “wooden”.
