The superintendent comprised 45 (status: 1913) parishes in Moravia and Austrian Silesia . Until the establishment of the Evangelical Superintendent of A. B. Galicia in 1804, the Evangelical parishes in Galicia were also subordinate to it . It was divided into three seniorate : the seniorate Brno , the seniorate Zauchtel and the seniorate Silesia . In 1913 there were more than 136,000 believers in the superintendent, the majority of whom were Polish- speaking , and also German and Czech-speaking . The official seat of the superintendent in charge of the superintendent was his / her respective residence, whereby it was ensured that it was a larger city.

history

The Evangelical Superintendentur AB Moravia and Silesia was established in 1784 under Emperor Joseph II .

Superintendent Andreas Paulini

The superintendents of Moravia and Silesia were (term of office in brackets):

The superintendent ceased to exist with the collapse of Austria-Hungary and the establishment of Czechoslovakia in 1918. The Czechoslovak government forbade the congregations to remain with the Evangelical Church A. B. in Austria. This largely corresponded to the wishes of the Czech-speaking congregations, which joined together on December 17, 1918 in the Evangelical Church of the Bohemian Brothers . The German-speaking congregations became part of the German Evangelical Church in Bohemia, Moravia and Silesia , which was founded on October 15, 1919 . The border between Poland and Czechoslovakia in the former Crown Land of Silesia was established on July 28, 1920. The parishes of the former Silesian Seniorate now located in Poland became part of the Evangelical Augsburg Church in Poland (today's Diocese of Cieszyn ). The Czechoslovak parishes in the former Seniorate of Silesia decided partly to join the German Evangelical Church in Bohemia, Moravia and Silesia, partly to join the Evangelical Church of the Bohemian Brothers and partly to found their own Polish-speaking church on August 16, 1920, of the Silesian Evangelical Church A. B.
