Jaworze ( German  Ernsdorf ) is a village in the Powiat Bielski in the Silesian Voivodeship in Poland . It is also the seat of the Gmina wiejska (rural community) of the same name .

geography

Jaworze is located in the Olsa region in the Pogórze Śląskie on the northern edge of the Silesian Beskids about 51 km south of Katowice and about 8 km west of Bielsko-Biała .

history

The village is located in the Olsa region (also Teschner Schlesien , Polish Śląsk Cieszyński ). In 1290, during the period of Polish particularism , the new Duchy of Teschen was established . The formation caused a colonization movement. The document Liber fundationis episcopatus Vratislaviensis ( Tithe Register of the Diocese of Wroclaw ) from around 1305 showed about seventeen new villages in the duchy, including "Item in Javorse" . The village was still in the earlier phase of foundation, so the territory of which the tithe was calculated was inexpressible. The original name is of Slavic origin , derived from the sycamore maple (Polish jawor ). It was mentioned again as Jaworzi in 1443 . Later in the 15th century the current owner, Piotr (Peter), settled German settlers next to Poles (Slavs). The new settlement was called Ernsdorf (e.g. in 1566). Jaworze and Ernsdorf were later grown together and called with double names.

Since 1327 the Duchy of Teschen was the feudal lordship of the Kingdom of Bohemia and since 1526 it belonged to the Habsburg Monarchy . In 1572 the minority rule of Bielitz came into being , to whom the village was subordinate, gradually elevated to a duchy between 1751 and 1754.

The Catholic parish was established in the late 15th century. After 1540 under Wenceslaus III. Adam the Reformation and the Church was taken over by Lutherans. A special commission returned them to the Catholics on April 16, 1654. According to the tolerance patent , a Lutheran congregation was established in the superintendent of Moravia and Silesia .

After the abolition of patrimonial he formed from 1850 a community in Austrian Silesia , district and judicial district Bielitz . In the meantime, the ethnographic group of the Teschen Wallachians took on a clear shape, also living in Jaworze. They traditionally spoke Teschen dialects .

Politically the village was strongly separated between Polish-Catholic, Socialist and Shlonsak supporters (see constituency Silesia 14 ). In the Reichsrat election in 1907 Bonczek, a candidate of the PPSD , won there with 188 votes , ahead of the Polish Catholic national activist Józef Londzin (173 votes) and Jan Sztwiertnia (49 votes) (1850-1912) (Polish Catholic with the support of the DF ). In the 1911 Reichsrat election Edmund Chobot (PPSD, 186 votes) won ahead of Józef Londzin (117 votes) and the representative of the Silesian People's Party Józef Kożdoń (101 votes).

In 1920, after the collapse of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy and the end of the Polish-Czechoslovak border war , Jaworze came to Poland. This was only interrupted by the occupation of Poland by the Wehrmacht in World War II .

Between 1954 and 1972 Jaworze was the seat of the Gromada Jaworze . Between 1973 and 1991 the village belonged to Gmina Jasienica, which Gmina Jaworze was only re-established in 1991.

From 1975 to 1998 Gmina belonged to the Bielsko-Biała Voivodeship .
