Parts of the empire and crown lands of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy :
  • Cisleithania
  • Transleithania
  • Bosnia and Herzegovina (administered since 1878, annexed in 1908)
  • The Imperial Council election in 1911 was after the Imperial Council election in 1907 , the second (and final) Imperial Council election in Cisleithania , the kingdoms and lands represented in the Imperial Council of Austria-Hungary , after the universal, equal secret, and direct male suffrage was held. It was carried out on June 13, 1911 and June 20, 1911 (runoff election).

    Electoral system

As in 1907, the cisleithan electoral districts were divided according to ethnicity and rural and urban districts. The constituencies were often named after cities, but mostly also included the wider area.

    Election result

A coalition of German national and liberal parties, the German National Association , emerged as the relative winner and received 100 of the 516 seats. The turnout was 80.2%. The Social Democrats received 82 seats, the Christian Socials 74.

    Term of office

Due to the First World War , which began for Cisleithanien with the adjourned parliament, the term of office of the MPs elected in 1911 was extended as a precautionary measure to the end of 1918 after they were reappointed in 1917. (The last session of the House of Representatives took place on November 12, 1918.) Due to the fragmentation of the parliamentary groups, the Imperial and Royal Ministry (the Cisleithan government appointed by the Emperor; from the Reichsrat election from 1911 to November 1918, the seven cabinets of Gautsch III via the Stürgkh Ministry to the Lammasch Ministry ) in parliament still cannot rely on a permanent government majority.

From October 30, 1918 to February 16, 1919, the German Reichsrat deputies acted as members of the Provisional National Assembly for German Austria , the founding parliament of the Republic of Austria.
