  • The parliamentary elections in Hungary in 1887 took place from July 17th to 26th, 1887 in Transleithanien . The Hungarian Reichstag ( Hungarian Magyar Országgyűlés ) was newly occupied . The election sparked protests and civil war-like conditions in the Kingdom of Hungary , in which nine people died.

    Electoral system

    In the Kingdom of Hungary and its crown lands , class suffrage had been in effect since 1867 . Privileges of class and property were much more decisive in Hungary than in Austria.

    Election result

    The result was a victory for the Liberal Party , which won 263 of the 413 seats.
