Parliamentary election in Hungary 1922
The parliamentary elections in Hungary in 1922 took place from May 28 to June 2, 1922 and produced the Unity Party , which won 140 of 245 seats in parliament, as the winner. The vote was open.
Electoral system
Before the election, the leadership of the ruling unity party changed the electoral system in order to secure power. This included the reintroduction of open elections and influencing electoral lists. The reforms were introduced by a decree issued by Prime Minister István Bethlen when the parliament was already dissolved.
For the elections the country was divided into 219 constituencies. Of these, more than one candidate ran in just four constituencies. Of the 125 individual applicant districts, only 20 were elected by secret ballot, the remaining, all rural constituencies, voted in open elections. All four constituencies with several candidates were elected secretly.
