Election to the Reichsrat 1879

The Reichsrat election in 1879 was the election to the Reichsrat Cisleithania and took place on June 28th to 30th.
Electoral system
Since 1873 was in Cisleithania a class franchise . The voters were assigned to one of four classes ("curia") according to their status and wealth: large landowners , chambers of commerce and trade, large and medium-sized farmers and all other male citizens living in cities who earn at least 10 guilders annually (from 1882 five guilders) paid direct taxes . This corresponded to a total of 6% of the adult population.
Election result
The winner of the election was the German Liberal Association with 91 seats. The Czech Club (consisting of Old Czechs , Young Czechs , Czech aristocrats and Czech MPs from Moravia) received 54 seats, the Polish Club 57 and the German Conservatives 57. The other MPs were non-attached.
