Drogomyśl ( German Drahomischl or Drahomischel , Draschendorf in World War II ) is a village with a Schulzenamt of the Strumień municipality in the Cieszyński Powiat of the Silesian Voivodeship , Poland .
geography
Drogomyśl is located in the Auschwitz Basin (Kotlina Oświęcimska) , on the Vistula about 20 km west of Bielsko-Biała and 50 km south of Katowice in the powiat (district) Cieszyn.
The village has an area of 1466 hectares .
Neighboring towns are Bąków and Zabłocie in the north, Mnich in the northeast, Zaborze in the east, Ochaby in the south, and Pruchna in the west.
history
The village is located in the Olsa area (also Teschener Silesia , Polish Śląsk Cieszyński ).
The place was first mentioned in 1452 as Drogomissl . The name is derived from the first name of the owner Drogomysł .
Politically, the village belonged to the Duchy of Teschen , the feudal lordship of the Kingdom of Bohemia , and from 1526 it belonged to the Habsburg Monarchy .
After 1540 under Wenceslaus III. Adam the Reformation . According to the tolerance patent , a Lutheran congregation was established in 1788 in the superintendent of A. B. Moravia and Silesia .
After the abolition of patrimonial from 1850 it was a municipality in Austrian Silesia , Bielitz district and Schwarzwasser judicial district. In the years 1880 to 1910 the population decreased from 1441 to 1285; there were predominantly Polish speakers (between 96.8% in 1900 and 87% in 1910) and German speakers (12.9% in 1910). In 1910, 62.8% were Protestant, 35.9% Roman Catholic, and there were 17 (1.3%) Jews.
In 1920, after the collapse of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy and the Polish-Czechoslovak border war , Drogomyśl came to Poland. This was interrupted by the occupation of Poland by the German Wehrmacht in World War II when it was called Draschendorf .
From 1975 to 1998 Drogomyśl belonged to the Bielsko-Biała Voivodeship .
