Politically, the village belonged to the Duchy of Teschen , the feudal lordship of the Kingdom of Bohemia , and from 1526 it belonged to the Habsburg Monarchy .

After the abolition of patrimonial from 1850 it was a municipality in Austrian Silesia , Bielitz district and Schwarzwasser judicial district. In the years 1880–1910 the population increased from 305 in 1880 to 368 in 1910, there were predominantly Polish speakers (between 100% in 1890 and 92.1% in 1910) and German speakers (7.9% in the year 1910). In 1910 88.3% were Roman Catholic, 8.9% Protestant, there were 10 (2.8%) Jews.

In 1920, after the collapse of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy and the end of the Polish-Czechoslovak border war , Zbytków became part of Poland. This was only interrupted by the occupation of Poland by the Wehrmacht in World War II .

From 1975 to 1998 Zbytków was part of the Bielsko-Biała Voivodeship .
