Parish church of Rattendorf

Rattendorf is a village and a cadastral municipality of the municipality of Hermagor-Pressegger See . At the 2001 census, the village had 343 inhabitants.

Until the municipal structural reform in 1973, Rattendorf was an independent Carinthian municipality. In 1964 it was enlarged by the connection of the previously independent municipality Waidegg (today part of Kirchbach ). The cluster village Rattendorf is located on the right bank of the Gail in the upper Gailtal at 600 m above sea level. Neighboring towns are Waidegg ( Kirchbach municipality ) in the northwest, Jenig in the north and Tröpolach in the southeast.

In ancient times, the Hadn Wall ran here , a dam that was supposed to protect Gurina .

The parish church of Rattendorf was first mentioned in 1339. The current church was built in the 16th century in the late Gothic style.

On October 30, 2018, the Gail flooded after rain . Here broke in the field of Waidegg a dam was inundated, causing Rattendorf.
