The Catholic parish church Rattendorf is a church in the middle of the village of the same name in the Gailtal , which today belongs to the municipality of Hermagor . A church in Rattendorf was mentioned for the first time in 1339, today's medium-sized church was built in the 16th century in the late Gothic style and consecrated to Saints Andrew and Markus .

The church has a four-bay nave and a two-bay, retracted choir with a 5/8 end . The tower erected on the north side of the choir is equipped with pointed-arch sound windows and pointed gables and has an eight-sided helmet.

On the south side there are two-part lancet windows with an original late Gothic style. On the north side there is a pointed arched portal to the sacristy. In the sacristy, scenes from the life of a saint bishop from the 15th century are painted in the arched windows. Furthermore, part of it can be seen how the angel Gabriel comes to Mary. ( Annunciation of the Lord ).

The outer framing of the west portal with the inscription "Come to me, all of you who are laborious and laden, I want to refresh you" was painted in the late Nazarene style in the 19th century.

The main altar in the high three-storey structure dates from 1710 and was restored in 1909. The inside picture shows Saints Andrew and Mark. Side figures are the Saints Barbara and Catherine of Siena .

The side altar on the left shows Saint Catherine of Siena and dates from the 17th century. The right side altar shows the Virgin Mary with the baby Jesus and dates from around the 18th century.

The organ was built in 1770 by the organ builder Schall from Graz and was first installed in the parish church of Rosegg . In 1830 the organ came to the church of Dellach im Gaital and in 1863 it was installed in Rattendorf.

Many restorations and modernizations have been carried out over the years. B. the electrification of the bell system. A bench heater was installed and in 1999 an electric church tower clock was installed.

On the night of October 30, 2018, during a heavy storm , a dam broke on the flood- leading Gail . The church's furnishings were damaged during the subsequent flooding.
