Lamar Trotti

Lamar Trotti (born October 18, 1900 in Atlanta , † August 28, 1952 in Oceanside , California ) was an American screenwriter and film producer .

Life

After studying journalism, Trotti worked as a reporter and then published a specialist film publication. From 1933 he worked as a screenwriter, subsequently also in films by John Ford and William A. Wellman . He had the greatest success with westerns and patriotic war films. From 1942, 20th Century Fox also used him as a producer.

Trotti has received multiple Oscar nominations and in 1945 was named Best Screenwriter for Wilson , a biography of US President Woodrow Wilson . He received his first nomination in 1940 for Best Original Story in Young Mr. Lincoln . In 1944 Ritt was nominated for Ox-Bow , for which he had written the screenplay and took over the production for 20th Century Fox , for best film , but could not prevail against Casablanca . In 1955, he received a nomination for Best Original Story for Rhythm in Blood .
