Dan Sabin Anca (born January 7, 1947 in Turda , † October 20, 2005 there ) was a Romanian football player and coach . He denied 318 games in the highest Romanian football league, the Divizia A .

Career as a player

Anca started playing soccer in his hometown at Chimia Turda . In 1964, at the age of 17, he moved to nearby Cluj to Știința Cluj . He debuted on November 8, 1964 at home against Politehnica Iasi in the Divizia A . He remained loyal to the club, which called itself Universitatea Cluj from 1966 , as a player for 16 years and ended his career there in 1980. With “U Cluj” Anca managed to win the Romanian Cup in the first year . U Cluj mostly placed in the middle of the table or played against relegation. The best placement he achieved in the 1971/72 season , when U Cluj ran in third place and were able to qualify for the UEFA Cup . In the following season Anca played his only two European Cup games against DFS Levski-Spartak Sofia in the first round.

Even after relegation in 1976 , Anca U Cluj remained and ended his active career a year later after relegation in 1979.

National team

Anca appeared in seven games for the Romanian national soccer team. He played his first game on January 15, 1969 against the English national football team at Wembley Stadium , where Romania wrested a 1-1 draw from the reigning world champions.

Career as a coach

Even after the active career ended, Anca Universitatea Cluj remained and was u. a. Has worked several times as a trainer and vice-president.
