I'll Walk Alone is a song from the soundtrack of the film Follow the Boys from 1944. The song was composed by Jule Styne and the lyrics to Sammy Cahn . It is sung by Dinah Shore in the film . The song addresses the separation of a couple caused by the war and the assurance that they will wait for each other: “I promised you to wait, there is no date, I want everyone to know that I am waiting, even if I am to tell the truth, gonna be very lonely. But you are also lonely and in my dreams I am always close to you and every evening I include you in my prayer. When I close my eyes I feel your love and your kisses. I will stay alone until you are by my side again. "
