Linda grew up in Queens before moving with her parents to Teaneck , New Jersey , in 1956 . She began to be interested in the pop music scene at an early age and found support in it from her mother. She registered her daughter for a local singing talent competition, from which Linda emerged as the winner. As a 14-year-old high school graduate , she applied with a demo tape on the US-wide CBS radio show Arthur Godfrey's Talent Scouts and then came to several appearances on the show, both as a singer and co-host. Linda made her record debut in 1959 with the single In-Between Teen / Lover Of The Year produced by Epic Records . The record was unsuccessful.
In the fall of 1960, Linda was still a student, she signed a recording contract with the Canadian-America record company, and in March 1961 the single with the title I've Told Every Little Star / Three Guesses was released under the new stage name Linda Scott . With her new recording of the 1932 oldie I've Told Every Little Star , composed by Oscar Hammerstein , she reached number three on the Billboard Hot 100 . The title became a million-dollar success and also sold well internationally. In the British New Musical Express , he rose to 8th place. With the following record Don't Bet Money Honey / Starlight, Starbright , Scott was able to seamlessly continue their success, Billboard added both titles to the Hot 100. While the A-side written by Scott himself reached 9th place, Starlight, Starbright came 44th. By early 1962, Scott published three more Hot 100 titles on Canadian America.
By the time Scott's last track, Bermuda, produced by Canadian America, established itself at number 70, the singer had already moved to his new record company Congress Records with her producer Neil Galligan , where she had recorded the record Yessiree / Town Crier . Two weeks after Bermuda's entry into the Hot 100, the Congress title Yessiree started there , making it to 60th place. The race with Canadian America continued, in May the CA title Count Every Star , which had been produced before Bermuda , entered the charts and landed at number 40. Although Scott released records at Congress until 1964, it tore their success story after the 1962 produced title I Left My Heart in the Balcony , which still reached number 74, from. In 1964 Scott signed a two-year contract with the record company Kapp , and in 1967 with RCA Victor . All records released by these companies were unsuccessful. In 1968 the company Eric Records released two singles with earlier successful titles.
In late 1969, Linda Scott said goodbye to show business and joined the Army for three years in 1970 , where she worked as a medical-technical laboratory assistant at Fort Sam Houston , Texas. She married a colleague and gave birth to a son in 1973. For some time she lived in Minneapolis with her family . After her divorce, she studied in Des Moines , Iowa , for four years theology .
