Eric Records
Eric Records is an American record company that produced vinyl single records from 1968 to 1996, mainly with new editions of successful oldies of pop music . The program then continued with compact discs .
history
The record label Eric Records was founded in 1968 by Bill Buster in Philadelphia with the intention of releasing old successful popular music tracks in the original version. He started with the Paris Sisters , of which he launched the successful titles I Love How You Love Me and He Knows I Love Him Too Much from 1961 and 1962 with catalog number 101 . As a result, Buster published evergreens and lesser-known titles in a colorful sequence, with neither the interpreter nor the time of the original recording being fitted into a scheme in the chronological order. The catalog numbering also changed several times:
- the hundreds series went up to number 325 and ended in 1992
- The numbers 4001 to 4019 followed in 1981, followed by numbers 4101 to 4119 from 1982 to 1986
- In 1969 the 5000 series began mainly with in-house productions by Bill Buster, the last catalog number 5017 appeared in November 1981
- the 6000 series was divided into the blocks 6001 - 6005 (1985), 6101 - 6108 (1986) and 6501 - 6504 (1972)
- In 1988 three singles with Roy Orbison appeared with the catalog numbers 7001 to 7003
While most of the number 1 titles were re-released between 1950 and 1979, curiosities like Jerry Butler For Your Precious Love (# 99 on the US charts ) also hit the market. Erik singles are currently being offered online, where the MusicStack single Step By Step with the Crests (14th place on Hot 100) was offered for 5.09 euros in 2014 , while the original version from 1960 was available for less than 3.00 euros was.
In 1974 the company moved to New Jersey . With the exception of the white labels on the promotional singles, Eric always used the same record label for his singles. It has a black background, the frame and font of the logo are in red, the title information is in silver. When the vinyl records were replaced by the compact discs in early 1990, Eric Records switched its production to compact discs in 1996.
Between 1961 and 1964 there was already a record label called Eric Records, which was based in Conroe (Texas) .
