Kapp Records

Kapp Records was an American record label founded in 1954 by David Kapp, the brother of Jack Kapp (founder of the American Decca Records ). David Kapp sold his label to MCA Records in 1967 , which then discontinued it in 1973.

Kapp Records mainly brought out "middle of the road" music. One of the most successful artists on the label was the pianist Roger Williams , who stayed with Kapp until his end . Other artists published by Kapp were Anita Darian , Jane Morgan , Lenny Welch , country singers like Freddie Hart and Mel Tillis ; also Jack Jones and jazz musicians like Kenny Ball or Carmen McRae - Louis Armstrong landed with Hello, Dolly! 1964 a No. 1 hit. The Searchers were distributed on the American market by Kapp . The last hit single was the Cher titled Gypsys, Tramps & Thieves in 1971.
