Elizabeth "Beanie" Feldstein (* 1993 in Los Angeles , California ) is an American film and stage actress .

Life

Feldstein was born in 1993 as the third child of the accountant Richard Feldstein and the costume designer Sharon Feldstein (née Chalkin ) into a Jewish family. Her older brothers are the actor Jonah Hill (* 1983) and the longtime Maroon 5 manager Jordan Feldstein (1977-2017). She grew up in West Los Angeles and attended Harvard-Westlake High School. She has been close friends with the actor Ben Platt since school .

Feldstein studied sociology at Wesleyan University and moved to New York City in 2015 . In 2016 she had her first major role in the comedy Bad Neighbors 2 . A wider audience, it was in 2017 for her role in Greta Gerwigs tragicomedy Ladybird alongside Saoirse Ronan known. While filming, producer Scott Rudin saw her recordings and had them for the role of Minnie Fay in the Broadway remake of the musical Hello, Dolly! audition. From April 2017 to August 2018 she appeared in it, initially at the side of Bette Midler and David Hyde Pierce .

2019 she was in the film comedy Book Smart in the lead role of Molly to see. For her performance she was nominated for a Golden Globe Award in the category Best Actress - Comedy or Musical .

In the third season of the anthology series American Crime Story , which deals with the Lewinsky affair , she will take on the role of Monica Lewinsky .

At the end of June 2020, Feldstein became a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences .
