West Los Angeles (also West LA for short ) is a neighborhood and a planning region of Los Angeles . As the name suggests, it lies in the west of the city center and is therefore generally also for Westside counted.
It has the status of a Community Plan Area (CPA), i.e. a planning area . However, this also includes areas that are generally understood as separate districts. The CPA is adjacent (clockwise from north) to: Westwood , Beverly Hills , Wilshire , West Adams - Balwin Hills - Leimert , Palms - Mar Vista , Santa Monica and Brentwood - Pacific Palisades and Veterans Administration .
The Los Angeles Times divided West LA into smaller neighborhoods in their project Mapping LA : Beverlywood , Century City , Cheviot Hills , Rancho Park , Sawtelle , West Los Angeles, and Pico-Robertson (this is partly in the CPA Wilshire).
