The settlement, which developed in the immediate vicinity of the west gate of the facility, initially bore the Name Westgate . On June 14, 1916, Westgate was incorporated into Los Angeles. The old name lives on in the street name Westgate Boulevard . The district is known as a wealthy place to live.
