Ben Platt (born September 24, 1993 in Los Angeles , California ) is an American actor and singer .

Life

Ben Platt was born into a Jewish family as the fourth of five children . His parents are the film, television and theater producer Marc E. Platt and his wife Julie Beren Platt. His brother Jonah Platt is also an actor. Platt is gay and came out at the age of 12.

Platt gained his first musical experience at an early age and was also active as an actor during his time in middle school and high school . Due to his theater experience, especially in the musical sector, he was brought into the main cast for the 2012 musical film Pitch Perfect . During this period, Platt was given a year off from school so that he could concentrate exclusively on film production. In the film he was used in an essential supporting role alongside Anna Kendrick , Skylar Astin , Anna Camp and Brittany Snow, among others . Since 2019 he has been the leading actor in the television series The Politician . He plays the role of a high school student aspiring to become president of the United States .
