Barbara Jane Horrocks (born January 18, 1964 in Rossendale Valley , Lancashire ) is a British actress , voice actress , screenwriter and singer .

life and career

Jane Horrocks studied acting at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art and the Royal Shakespeare Company .

Horrocks was best known as the rather over-the-top assistant Bubble in the British sitcom Absolutely Fabulous alongside Jennifer Saunders (Edina) and Joanna Lumley (Patsy) . While working with screenwriter Jim Cartwright , he became aware of her special ability to change her voice in order to imitate people or to reinterpret old songs. He was so excited that he wrote the screenplay for the movie Little Voice and cast it with her in the lead role. For this role she was rewarded, among other things, with a nomination for the Golden Globe . Because of this vocal ability, it is often the synchronization of cartoons dedicated. Her best-known work here is the film Chicken Run - Hennen rennen ( Chicken Run ), where she lends her voice to Henne Babs in the original . As a singer you can experience her every now and then. For example, she performed with Robbie Williams at his concert Live at the Albert in 2001 and can also be heard on his album Swing When You're Winning (2001) in the song Things .

Horrocks is married to Nick Vivian and has two children. The family lives in Twickenham.
