Life and professional history

Jennifer Saunders trained at the Central School of Speech and Drama in London, during which she met her future comedy partner, Dawn French . Together with her she performed in the cabaret The Comedy Store and later in The Comic Strip , where they formed a permanent and popular ensemble with a few other colleagues.

The success of this group finally brought them together on television in 1982 in the format The Comic Strip presents . After further appearances and successes on television, she and Dawn French wrote their own comedy series in 1987 called French & Saunders , which became an instant hit.

A parody from it of the pop band Bananarama led to the fact that they recorded a benefit single for Comic Relief as Lananeeneenoonoo together with the parodied girl group in 1989 , which brought them into the top 10 of the British charts. Within the French & Saunders series , a sketch about a pesky mother and her bourgeois daughter kicked off Absolutely Fabulous , a series designed by Saunders that was even more successful and only recently continued. And this series also resulted in a comic relief top 10 hit in 1994, this time together with the Pet Shop Boys . In 2016, Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie hit theaters - alongside Jennifer Saunders in the lead roles Joanna Lumley and Julia Sawalha . The film is peppered with 60 Cameo -Auftritten of celebrities, including Kate Moss , Dame Edna and Joan Collins .
