Katherine "Kate" Ann Moss (born January 16, 1974 in Croydon , London , England ) is a British model .

life and career

Moss was born in 1974 in Addiscombe in the London Borough of Croydon in south London to Linda Rosina (Shepherd), a boutique manager, and Peter Edward Moss, an airline employee. The parents divorced when she was 13. Kate has a younger brother named Nick and a half-sister, Charlotte ( Lottie , born January 9, 1998) and a half-brother. She attended Ridgeway Primary School and later Riddlesdown High School . She was very good at sport, but mostly bad grades in other subjects.

In 1988, the then 14-year-old was discovered by Sarah Doukas , the founder of the modeling agency Storm , at JFK Airport in New York . With publisher Jefferson Hack, Moss has a daughter, Lila Grace, who was born in September 2002. In 2005 she got engaged to Pete Doherty , the singer of the Babyshambles , from whom she separated in the summer of 2007. Since then, she has been seen alongside Jamie Hince , the guitarist of The Kills , whom she married on July 1, 2011.
