Golden Globe Award : Best Young Actor

Winner and nominee in the category of Best Young Actor ( New Star Of The Year - Actor ), which from 1948 to 1983 honored the most outstanding acting performances of the previous calendar year. Well-known names like the later Oscar winners Paul Newman , George C. Scott , Jon Voight , Dustin Hoffman and Ben Kingsley are among the winners and nominees . Only the American Michael Callan (1960 and 1961) received two nominations . In 1957, a one-time separate prize for the best young foreign actor ( New Foreign Star Of The Year - Actor ), won by Frenchman Jacques Bergerac .

In 1970 an actor from German-speaking countries was among the nominees for the first time: Helmut Berger ( Die Verdammten ) lost the trophy to the later Oscar-nominated Jon Voight ( Asphalt Cowboy ). It was followed by Arnold Schwarzenegger's victory ( Mr. Universum ) in 1977 .
