Dean Paul Martin (born November 17, 1951 in Santa Monica , California - † March 21, 1987 in San Gorgonio , California) was an American tennis player and actor .

Life

The son of Dean Martin and his second wife Jeanne Biegger played tennis tournaments at the age of eleven, where he was coached by Pancho Segura . He later founded Desi Arnaz Jr. with his friends . and Billy Hinsche under the name Dino, Desi & Billy a pop formation that celebrated its biggest hit in 1965 with I'm a Fool .

During his studies at the University of Los Angeles he resumed his tennis career and played a. a. alongside Jimmy Connors at the NCAA Championships .

After two semesters he dropped out of his studies, tried his hand at American football as a semi-professional , as a racing driver and kept returning to tennis.

He also took on minor roles in film. He had his greatest film role in 1979 alongside Ali MacGraw in Love Games, who played in tennis. He was also known to a wide audience through his leading role in the US series The Specialists on the move . Martin received a nomination for the Golden Globe Award for his artistic work .

In 1981, Martin, who obtained his pilot's license at the age of 16, became captain of the California Air National Guard .

On March 21, 1987, he had a fatal accident with an F-4C Phantom at the 3,500 meter high San Gorgonio.

Dean Paul Martin was married twice; from 1971 to 1978 first marriage to actress Olivia Hussey , who had a son (born February 12, 1972) and from 1982 to 1984 second marriage to ice skater Dorothy Hamill . Both marriages ended in divorce.
