Desi Arnaz Jr. was born to Desi Arnaz and Lucille Ball in Hollywood , California , two years after his sister Lucie Arnaz . His birth went down in television history as a public spectacle. Mother Lucille Ball's pregnancy and subsequent hospitalization were built into the scripts of the sitcom I Love Lucy , which was a television revolution in the conservative 1950s .

At the age of 12, Desi Arnaz played as a drummer in the band Dino, Desi & Billy . The other band members were Dino Martin (the son of Dean Martin ) and Billy Hinsche (tour musician of the Beach Boys and brother-in-law of Carl Wilson ). In 1965 they had two hit singles , "I'm a fool" and "Not the loving kind".

His acting career began with a role as Craig Carter on Here's Lucy , alongside his mother and sister. In the 1970s he made a number of appearances in various television productions and some movies. For his performance in the feature film Red Sky At Morning , he received the Golden Globe Award for Best Young Actor in 1972 . In the mid-1980s, actor engagements gradually decreased. In 1983 he got the lead role in the Glen A. Larson series Automan , which was discontinued after 12 episodes.

Arnaz junior was married to actress Linda Purl , but the couple divorced. A relationship with Patty Duke was the cause of rumors and allegations that Arnaz was the biological father of Duke's son Sean Astin . Eventually Arnaz took a paternity test, but it turned out negative. He was married to Amy Barghell from 1989 until her death in 2015. The couple adopted a daughter named Haley.
