David Ladd (born February 5, 1947 in Los Angeles , California ) is an American film producer and actor .

life and career

David Ladd was born to Hollywood star Alan Ladd and his wife, actress Sue Carol . The film producer Alan Ladd junior is a brother. As a child, David Ladd played alongside his father in the films My Great Friend Shane (1953, in a small role), Ruler over a wide land (1957) and The proud rebel (1958). For his appearance as the silent farmer boy in Michael Curtiz 's western The Proud Rebel , he was nominated at the Golden Globe Awards in 1959 in the categories of Best Supporting Actor and Best Newcomer . Although he missed out on them, he also received a special award for Best Young Actor . On television, he starred in an episode of Bonanza and took on the role of Tom Sawyer in an episode of Shirley Temple's storybook . David Ladd also took on leading roles in some B-movies until puberty set in in the early 1960s.

While the roles for the adolescent Ladd remained sparse in the following years, he reported as an adult in the 1970s with supporting roles in films such as Battle of the Gowns , Catlow - Life to Die , Tunnel of Living Corpses and The Wild Geese Come to the Big Screen back. Since the late 1970s, David Ladd has mainly worked as a producer and only occasionally takes on acting roles. He worked for the television broadcaster ABC , Columbia Pictures and, in the 1990s, as temporary vice president of production at Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer . He also started his own production company, David Ladd Films .

From 1971 to 1972 David Ladd was married to Louise Hendricks for the first time. His marriage to actress Cheryl Ladd lasted from 1973 to 1980, and she has daughter Jordan Ladd . Between 1982 and 2012 he was married to actress Dey Young .
